Background

Kaipara Flats Playgroup was established in the early 1980’s by members of the Kaipara Flats Community and has operated out of McKinney Hall, the old Presbyterian church, ever since.  In 2003, the community raised funds to purchase the land and buildings from the church in order to maintain the Playgroup facilities in our village.  This was an enormous achievement for the community and one that we are very proud of.  McKinney Hall was founded in 1914 and is a Heritage Building which is run by the Kaipara Flats Community Heritage Society (KFCHS).  The Playgroup leases the premises from KFCHS and maintains all our wonderful resources there.

Playgroup is operated by a committee of parents/caregivers.  We hold one meeting per term and encourage anyone who can to attend.  Minutes of the meetings are distributed to all Playgroup families.  Regardless of whether you attend the meetings, your ideas, views and any assistance you are able to give are always welcomed.
